The Columbian reports that Hill’s Toyota was struck by a Nissan pickup truck driven by Jesse Dean Rankin, 29, of Camas when Rankin’s pickup truck crossed over the centerline and struck Hill’s car and another vehicle.
Rankin and the driver of the third vehicle were taken to a local hospital. Their condition is unknown.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident and anyone with information are asked to contact Officer Pete Kurronen at 503-823-2208 or Peter.Kurronen@PortlandOregon.gov.
Head-on collisions are some of the worst type of car accidents because of the forces involved. Victims often suffer catastrophic injuries such as traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injures, or, as in this case, victims suffer non-survivable injuries.
Head-on car accidents are often caused by negligent driving such as driver distraction, driving under the influence, making an illegal u-turn, or driver drowsiness.
