Keith Knappett was awarded $1.3 million by a King County jury on Thursday for a slip and fall injury he received while exiting a Metro bus in 2006.
According to a report in The Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Knappett’s received permanent injuries to his leg, uses a cane to walk and may eventually require an amputation.
In his lawsuit, Knappett claimed that the stairs were very slick, especially the yellow material.
Knappett’s attorney said that he deserved the award because the accident was life altering and that he needed the money to pay medical bills.
