Kea Rodrigues, 14, of Wilsonville, was saved from drowning on the upper Washougal River at Dougan Falls after his leg got trapped between boulders in the river.
Bystanders reached the boy when they saw him struggling in the water and kept his head out of water despite the water reaching to his nose. They kept the teen alive until Skamania County Sheriff’s divers could rescue him.
Rodrigues was taken by Life Flight to Southwest Washington Medical center in Vancouver before being transported to Legacy Emanuel Children’s hospital. A web-site set up to keep friends up-to-date on Rodriques’ condition says he is currently on a ventilator after his heart stopped several times.
