Rear-end car accident injures two including toddler near Aberdeen

A 29-year-old Olympia man faces charges of Vehicular Assault after he rear-ended a van injuring his passenger, a 2-year-old boy, and the driver of the van. The toddler was taken to the hospital via ambulance.

The Olympian reports that the man was speeding on state Route 12 when the rear-end car accident occurred. The driver of the van, Thomas P. Hogan, 54, of Montesano, suffered undisclosed injuries.

The Washington State Patrol are investigating the accident and they believe that the Olympia man have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Vehicular Assault, Washington Vehicle Code RCW 46.61.522, can be charged if a person is seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident and the driver is driving recklessly, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and driving without regard for the safety of others.
