Washington State DOT recommends emergency car kit

Winter has arrived in Washington state and even the greater SeattleTacomaBellevue areas and Western Washington are experiencing freezing temperatures and snow.

With Thanksgiving just a few days away and many people traveling on the highways for the holiday, the Washington State Department of Transportation is recommending that Motorists be prepared for the cold weather with an emergency car kit.

Emergency Car Kit Supplies

  • jumper cables
  • cat litter or sand
  • shovel
  • ice scraper
  • extra warm clothes
  • blanket
  • flashlight and batteries
  • extra food
  • water for each person in the car
  • AM/FM radio

In addition to the Emergency car Kit the WSDOT reminds motorists not to forget:

  • A fully charged cell phone
  • Flares or reflective triangle
  • Full gas tank
  • Baby supplies including extra diapers and fomula

If your car is stranded, the DOT recommends that you use your flashers and flares and to stay in your car.
