Children and drivers injured in Gig Harbor school bus accident

A Peninsula School District bus accident injured at least six students and the school bus driver and the driver of a pickup truck today west of Gig Harbor.

Seattle’s KOMO news reports that the school bus accident occurred near 11125 Key Peninsula Highway North around 11:45. The children on board the bus were students from Key Peninsula Middle School.

The accident occurred when the school bus was rear-ended by a pickup truck after the bus had slowed to allow another vehicle to pull out of a driveway.

According to the report, 9 children and two drivers were taken to St. Andrews Hospital for treatment of injuries.

The pickup truck driver was cited for driving with a suspended license and not having insurance.
