3 Coast Guard personnel killed in helicopter crash off of La Push, WA

A Coast Guard helicopter crashed off of La Push on Wednesday morning killing 3 crew members and seriously injuring another reports The Seattle Times.

According to the report, the injured crew member was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. A hospital spokesperson says that the injured man was in stable condition.

It is believed that the MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter may have hit power lines, causing it to crash.

Members of the Quileute Nation helped in the rescue effort.

The helicopter and crew were based in Sitka, Alaska and were returning to Alaska from Elizabeth City, N.C. where the helicopter had undergone maintenance.
