WSP seeks witnesses to Monroe cross-over car-truck accident

The Washington State patrol, in a media release, is asking for witnesses to Saturday’s car vs tanker truck accident that occurred last Saturday on State Route 2 near Monroe, Washington, to contact them.

Steven T. Johnson, 38, of Bothell was traveling eastbound on U.S. 2 driving a 1997 Mazda when he crossed the center line and collided with an oncoming tanker truck. Johnson died on the way to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The driver of the tanker truck was not injured.

The WSP is trying to determine what led up to the motor vehicle accident.

More than 50 people have been killed in motor vehicle accidents on U.S. 2 west of the Cascades in the past 10 years, many of them cross over accidents.
