Two women die after Pasco t-bone car accident

Two women have died after a car accident in Pasco on Friday evening. According to a report in The Seattle Times, the women were riding in a Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by Susan, Garcia, 40, of Richland when Garcia attempted to make a left-hand turn and their vehicle was t-boned by a pickup truck. The accident occurred at Road 68 and Wernett Road around 5:15pm.

Garcia died at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland several hours after the accident. Her passenger, Guadalupe Martinez, 50, of Pasco died earlier at Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco. Both women were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

The Washington State Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident but they believe that Garcia failed to yield she made the left hand turn in front of a Ford F350 driven by Russell Rutherford, 59, of Pasco. Rutherford was unable to avoid the accident. Reports aid that he suffered minor injuries in the accident.
