Lake Stevens car accident seriously injures child, man

The HeraldNet of Everett reports that a man in his 20’s was seriously injured when he was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Highway 9 in Lake Stevens about 7:35pm on Thursday night.

According to a report, the unidentified man lost control of his vehicle on Highway 9 and crashed his car into two separate vehicles. He hit the first vehicle near 113th Street NE and, while fleeing that accident, he ran into a second vehicle injuring its driver and a 7-year-old passenger in that car. The child is reported to have sustained “severe abdominal injuries that required surgery to repair his intestine and is currently recovering at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.” The driver sustained “minor seat belt injuries.”

The driver in his 20s was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries. It is suspected that he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident. If this is the case, he faces multiple charges including vehicular assault.
