Castle Rock man killed in Hanford construction accident

Kelly Loyd of Castle Rock was killed in a construction accident at a Bonneville Power Administration substation on the Hanford nuclear reservation around 9:00 am on Monday, March 1, 2010.

According to an article in the Seattle PI.com, Loyd, was operating a bobcat with a backhoe and was seriously injured while doing excavation work and died later at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland.

Loyd was an employee of Christenson Electric Inc.

The Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) and the Washington Department of Labor and Industries are meeting to determine whose jurisdiction the construction accident is in and who will conduct an investigation.
