Man dies in accident after deer crashes through windshield

A driver was killed in a motor vehicle accident after he apparently hit a deer on Highway 20, north of Newport, Washington in Pend Orielle County which is about 50 miles north-east of Spokane
According to a report on KREM.com, the accident occurred around 6am this morning. The deer probably went through the windshield of the man’s pickup truck and killed the driver on impact. The truck went down an embankment until it hit some trees.

October through December are the months when motorists are at the highest risk of a collision with a deer. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, November is statistically the worst month. Washington is not in the top 10 states of deer collisions, but it is still a common problem. Every year, approximate 150 motorists are killed and 10,000 more injured in accidents involving wildlife throughout the US.
