Young father-to-be killed in Seattle construction accident

The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries is investigating a construction accident on Harbor Island that killed Spencer Clark Harrington, age 21. Harrington was hit by a 30-foot steel beam in the head and stomach at Seattle Bulk Rail in the 3200 block of 16th Avenue Southeast. He died of his injuries several hours later at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Harbor Island is located off of the Seattle Freeway in Elliot Bay.

Harrington’s girlfriend, Karen Joy Wilburn, is six months pregnant with Harrington’s baby and the two were planning to marry. According to the article in The Seattle Times, Harrington was born in Tacoma but was living with Wilburn in Tukwila.
