First officer in Buffalo plane crash was recent Central Washington University grad

The 24-year-old First Officer of the Continental Airlines flight 3404 that crashed in Buffalo, New York, on Thursday was from Maple Valley and was a recent graduate of Central Washington University (CWU) in Ellensburg.

The CWU web-site says that the Department of Aviation is taking the death of Rebecca (Morris) Shaw “pretty hard.” Shaw graduated from the Department of Aviation program in 2007. She received a Bachelor of Science in flight technology with a minor in philosophy. Prior to attending Central, she attended Big Bend Community College.

Our condolences go out to her husband, her family and her many friends.
