Sammamish pre-school student run over by car in Bellevue

The Seattle Times reports that a four-year-old Sammamish boy was run over by a car in his pre-school parking lot. The pedestrian accident occurred around noon at a church in the 14400 block of Northeast Eighth Street when a man driving a Toyota Corolla apparently backed over the boy.

The boy was taken to Harbor View Medical Center in Seattle where he was treated for scrapes and bruises. Bellevue Police Officer Greg Grannis said it was remarkable that the toddler had no serious injuries, “Considering he was actually run over by a car — not just knocked down, but the tires ran over his pelvis.”

The Renton man who hit the boy will not be charged since the accident occurred on private property. He did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs and he voluntarily gave police a blood sample.
