Monroe, Washington motorcycle, car accident kills two

The Seattle Times reports that two people were killed in a motorcycle accident in Monroe and one other person has serious injuries. The accident occurred on Highway 203 and Tualco Road just south of Monroe. According to the report, Thomas Devine, 44, of Newcastle was riding his motorcycle south on Highway 203. A car driven by Myka Campell, 17, of Everett was merging onto Highway 203 from Tualco Road when the crash occurred. Devine on his motorcycle crashed into Campbell's car with such impact that the car on its roof.

Devine was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Campell was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where she died of her injuries. Along with Campbell was an 18-year-old male passenger who was also airlifted to Harborview; his condition is unknown at this time.

The cause of the accident is being investigated. Some witnesses said that the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed and others said that Campbell pulled out in front of Devine. Bremerton, Washington motorcycle officer officer injured in accident

Seattle's KOMO news reports that a Bremerton motorcycle officer was injured while on patrol on Wednesday around 4:30pm near the intersection of 6th Street and Hewitt.

The condition of the officer is not known but the report said that he was "conscious and breathing" when medical units arrived. He was taken to Harrison Medical Center.

City of Vancouver, Washington agrees to pay accident victim $300K

The City of Vancouver, Washington has agreed to pay Gary L. Graham $300,000 for injuries he suffered when Officer Chris Kershaw turned his police car in front of Graham's motorcycle, causing him to crash reports The Columbian. The motorcycle accident, which occurred in May of 2004, caused severe injuries to Graham including a head injury, traumatic brain injury (TBI), a back injury, and a leg fracture that required surgery. Graham has residual neurological problems and has a cognitive disorder associated with the brain damage.

According to a City of Vancouver staff report, Graham was deprived of oxygen for about 5 minutes after the accident and Washington State Patrol officers arriving to the scene of the accident thought he was brain dead.

The motor vehicle accident occurred in the early morning hours of May 2, 2004. Both Graham and Kershaw were traveling west on Mill Plain Boulevard. Responding to a call, Officer Kershaw crossed two lanes and pulled in front of Graham, neglecting to turn his lights or sirens on. Graham was unable to avoid the collision.

According to The Columbian, Graham's medical bills were almost $90,000 thousand and his lost wages and motorcycle were approximately $30,000 more.

Ephrata, Washington motorcycle accident injures man

Romero Paniagua, 41, of Quicy, Washington suffered a broken pelvis when his motorcycle hit a car that pulled out in front of him. The motorcycle accident occurred one mile west of Ephrata reports The Wenatchee World. The driver of the car, who was not injured, was Sarita Rodriquez, 22 of Moses Lake. She was cited for failure to yield the right of way.

East Wenatchee, WA teacher dies in motorcycle accident near Entiat

The Wenatchee World reports that Joshua D. Putnam, 31, of East Wenatchee was killed near Entiat in a motorcycle accident on Friday night. Putnam, who was a kindergarten teacher at Robert E. Lee Elementary School in East Wenatchee, was motorcycle riding with his father on a U.S. Forest Service road when he hit a fallen tree. The tree, which was hidden by a shrub, struck him in the groin area. Putnam had abdominal injuries and it also appeared that he may have suffered cardiac arrest.

Putnam was a highly regarded elementary teacher in his first permanent position.

Fall City motorcycle accident death may result in 'vehicular homicide' charge

A 74-year-old Sammamish man was killed while riding his motorcycle on Monday on State Route 202 near Fall City, Washington reports The Seattle-Post Intelligencer. The motorcycle accident occurred around 3 pm when a 28-year-old man driving a sports utility vehicle crossed the center line and hit the motorcyclist head-on.

Washington State Patrol investigators have booked the man driving the sports utility vehicle into King County Jail. They may charge him with vehicular homicide. In Washington State, a driver can be charged with vehicular homicide if someone is killed in an automobile accident and the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In this Fall City accident, the driver of the sports utility vehicle is suspected of being under the influence.

Motorcyclist hurt in collision with deer on Highway 2 near Wenatchee

A motorcyclist suffered a collapsed lung and broken bones after colliding with a deer on Highway 2, east of Wenatchee. The Seattle Times reports that Daniel Wickersheim of Duvall, Washington was taken to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee after the motorcycle accident for treatment.

1 motorcylist killed, another injured on Highway 2

The Hearld Net reported that the Washington State Patrol is investigating an accident that occurred at U.S. 2 and Highway 9 near Snohomish, Washington involving three motorcyclists and a fuel tanker truck on Saturday afternoon. Troopers at the scene said that it appears that three motorcyclists were traveling together when the one motorcyclist clipped another one, and lost control of his motorcycle careening into the tanker truck. One motorcyclist was killed and the other was taken to Everett Medical Center.

Westbound U.S. 2 was closed for several hours. The Washington State Patrol has not released the name of the dead cyclist.

Kennewick grandfather & granddaughter injured in motorcycle accident

The Tri -City Herald reported that a West Richland, Washington grandfather and his 9 year-old granddaughter were injured in a motorcycle accident on April 9th. The grandfather, Charles Wadley, 63, was riding his motorcycle in Kennewick with his granddaughter accompanying him when Donald Coates, 68, turned in front of him.
