Construction worker killed in Guemes Island accident

A 57-year-old construction worker from Mount Vernon was killed in a construction accident on Guemes Island after a house that was being lowered fell off its foundation and crushed him. Guemes Island is a small island in the San Juan Islands chains just north of Anacortes.

According to an article in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, five other construction workers were involved in the project but were able to escape injury. The accident occurred around 3:15pm on Saturday afternoon.
