Sunset Highway car accident injures 7 near East Wenatchee

A two-car accident injured seven people on Sunset Highway just north of East Wenatchee on Friday afternoon. According to a report in the Wenatchee World, a car 1998 Chevy pickup truck driven by Adnan Abouammo, age 51, of East Wenatchee and a 2004 Kia Sedan driven by Robert Ivy, age 32, or Monroe collided at Blue Rock Drive Northeast and Sunset Highway.

Passengers in Abouammo’s truck were Ramiah Abouammo, age 23, Lilli Olin, age 14 and Shelby Hayes, age 14 all of East Wenatchee. Passengers in Ivy’s Kia were Nancy Ivy, age 31, and Taylor Ivy, age 7, both of Monroe.

All seven people involved in the car accident were taken to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee for treatment of unspecified injuries.

The Sunset Highway is a heavily traveled corridor with nearly 15,000 vehicles traversing the highway daily. Congestion and safety hazards have plagued the highway.
